  • SWKKF Student Development Scholarship Application Form

  • The SWKKF Scholarship Committee offers 3 scholarships, each valued at $1000, to applicants who showcase excellence in academics, extracurricular activities, and karate involvement. These scholarships are made possible by the Wado Kai Student Development Fund (2 scholarships) and the Jean Foster Memorial Fund (1 scholarship). 

    Eligibility Criteria:

    To qualify:

    1. Applicants must be active members of the Shintani Wado Kai Karate Federation (SWKKF) during the application year. Applicants can either be students themselves or parents/guardians of students:
      1. For student applicants: evaluation focuses on academic achievements, extracurricular engagement, and karate participation.
      2. For parent/guardian applicants: assessment considers the student's academic performance and extracurricular involvement, along with the parent/guardian's karate engagement.
    2. The student must be applying to or already enrolled in a post-secondary program (e.g., technical institute, college, university, etc.).
    3. Academic success must meet the requirements for admission to the post-secondary institution or continuation from one academic year to the next. Proof of acceptance or continuation within the program is required.

    The deadline to submit all application sections is June 30, 2026. 

     

    Application Instructions:

    • Complete the sections below, ensuring to address all sections thoroughly. 
    • Expand as much as possible about your skills and accomplishments. Thorough completion allows the Scholarship Committee to adequatly evaluate the application. 
    • Consult the SWKKF Scholarship Submission Checklist to guarantee the completeness of your application. Incomplete submissions will not be considered for review by the committee.

  • Student's Extracurricular Involvement

  • Use the table below (or a similar format) to outline your involvement in extracurricular activities over the past five years (2021–2026). This may include volunteer work, paid employment, participation in sports or the arts, and any related achievements. You are encouraged to provide additional details such as certificates, awards, and accomplishments.

    Important: All submissions must include a specific time commitment and a detailed description of your role. General statements such as, “Volunteer at school” do not provide sufficient information for the committee to assess involvement. Be sure to specify the frequency of your commitment (e.g., daily, weekly, monthly, annually), the amount of time spent, and specific tasks performed (e.g. Volunteer math tutor to grade 5 students 3 hours per week for 10 weeks per year.")
