• Perseverance Wetlands Walking Tour

  • Watershed Awareness Days Free Event

    Thursday May 28, 2026
4 pm, Coal Creek Historic Park, Comox Lake Road

Wetlands are vital, water-saturated ecosystems located within large watersheds. They act as natural sponges and filters, capturing water, reducing flood risks, and cleaning pollutants before they enter rivers and lakes. Healthy wetlands are crucial for maintaining water quality and supporting biodiversity.

Join Current Environmental for this guided walk and talk all about the relationship between wetlands and watersheds. Learn how wetlands absorb the energy of atmospheric rivers and hold water for dry summer months, and discover how the Perseverance Creek Wetlands support the health and resilience of the Comox Lake watershed.

  • About Connected by Water

Connected By Water is a program of the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) designed to build capacity, community and connection to support drinking water and watershed protection efforts. Through exploring the natural, indigenous and settler history of the Comox Lake watershed, human impacts, ecosystem health and climate change scenarios, the Connected By Water team engages residents and visitors in the story of our watershed: how it works, how we have and continue to change it, and how we can ensure its health and climate resilience for future generations.

The Connected By Water program includes K-12 curriculum resources, community workshops, water and land based tours, presentations and interdisciplinary projects that help our community understand how we’re all “connected by water”.
