• 'The Longevity Sadhana of Machig Labdron' retreat with Lama Tsultrim Allione: booking form

  • Rainbows and tigles outside Machig Labdron's cave
  • September 3rd-6th 2026 at Heartsong retreat centre, South Brent, Devon, UK

Lama Tsultrim will teach The Longevity Sadhana of Machig Labdron. This practice is a tshe sgrub — a long-life sadhana  — that Lama Tsultrim received directly from Machig Labdrön in November 2017, while in Machig Phug, Machig's cave near Paro Taktsang in Bhutan. Through guru yoga with Machig, the four empowerments of body, speech, mind, and their union are conferred. Then in the longevity phase, Ushnīavijayā (Tsugtor Namgyalma), the eight-armed goddess of long life, is visualised within a rainbow sphere at the heart, and the practitioner uses the vase breath to circulate life-force and the four joys through the chakras as bliss-emptiness. Lost vitality is retrieved in five-coloured lights from the Dākinīs of the five Buddha families.

The retreat will include the practice itself, learning the protectors of the Chöd lineage, and a Tsog feast — a rare opportunity to receive this transmission directly from the teacher to whom it was entrusted. Although this retreat is more appropriate for experienced practitioners it is open to everyone who feels drawn to attend.

Food: All food will be vegetarian with gluten-free and vegan options available. Due to being at full capacity with limited kitchen space we are unable to cater for very restrictive diets or offer food preparation/fridge storage space to participants but will try to integrate preferences as much as possible.

Accessibility: There is one ground floor, wheelchair-accessible bedroom with a fold-up bed for a carer. Please let us know here if you would need this. Please also let us know if going outside (including at night) to access a bathroom, the teaching space or the dining area would be difficult for you as some accommodation options require this.
