  • 2027 PIPS By-Laws Amendments Consultation

  • At the 2026 MVMA Annual General Meeting, membership approved the repeal and replacement of the PIPS By-Laws, January 20, 2023, with the Practice Inspection and Practice Standards (PIPS) By-laws, January 30, 2026.  

    The MVMA Council is proposing amendments to the new PIPS By-laws, January 30, 2026, once they come into effect. 

    The PIPS Implementation Committee invites members to review and provide feedback on proposed amendments.

    Please review the 2027 PIPS By-Laws Consultation document and submit your feedback by August 30, 2026.

    Replace: B.1.1 In order to provide veterinary care, a Practicing Veterinarian Member(s)
    must obtain a Practice Certificate.

    With: B.1.1 In order to provide veterinary care, a Veterinary Practice must obtain a
    Practice Certificate.

    Replace: B.1.3 ii for veterinary practices that were established prior to December 20,
    2026, undergo an inspection pursuant to section B.3 of this by-law.

    With: B.1.3 ii for veterinary practices that were established prior to the coming to effect
    of this by-law, undergo an inspection pursuant to section B.3 of this by-law.

  • Proposed amendments #3

    Remove: C.1.5 The course and treatment of all patients shall be determined by the
    veterinarian.

    Reasoning: Redundant (already stated in the Veterinary Act) and may hinder changes regarding RVTs to general bylaws.

  • Proposed amendment #4

    Replace: E.4.13 The pharmacy area must be a controlled area where the public is not able
    to access.

    With: E.4.13 The pharmacy area must be a controlled area accessible to authorized
    personnel only.
