The IDS Dock League is a four-month, team-based competition designed to bring dock diving communities together through friendly team and club competition.
Built on a performance-based scoring system, the League creates fair, balanced
rankings across all jump distances and club sizes—so every team has a real
opportunity to compete, improve, and succeed.
Getting Started?
1st. You will need to register your dog with IDS and get their IDS#. Please use this link to get the IDS#: Dog IDS#
2nd. You will need to register your Team. Please use this link to get the Team League#: Team League# (don't forget to select Sea Dogz as your Home Dock)
Any healthy dog over 6 months old can compete in League. The IDS Dock diving league starts May 1st and runs through August 31st.
General League Guidelines
- All regular IDS Horizon rules apply to league
- Open, Lap, Legend and Junior Classes are used for rankings and placements
- Each TEAM is required to have a unique IDS TEAM # in order to be listed in the IDS League rankings, seasonal results and club totals.
- Each TEAM consists of one handler and one dog (1 additional handler is
permitted on the dock however, the handler listed on the TEAM registration must be the person throwing the toy)
- Each TEAM chooses their home dock at the time of registration
Registration Limits
- A dog may register with up to 3 handlers
- A handler may register up to 3 dogs
- Each dog/handler combination requires its own Team Leauge#
Season Structure
- Each Team designates a Home Dock
- Team and club rankings reset monthly
- Teams earn BMS + LPP points each month
- Clubs earn a % of each team’s scores
- Best 3 of 4 months count toward Season standings
- Teams may skip one month and remain eligible
Home Dock Requirements
To earn League points in a given month, a team must complete a minimum of 3 Horizon rounds at their declared Home Dock during that month. If this requirement is NOT met then the team earns 0 League points for that month.
These may occur at:
- A League Night at the Home Dock consisting of 3 recorded scores judged by an approved IDS judge, OR
- Any Home Dock IDS sanctioned dock diving event during that month
Individual Team Scoring
Base Monthly Score (BMS) – “Similar to Skill Points”
Each team’s BMS is calculated using:
- Best 3 eligible Horizon scores for the Team, each month
- Each team’s scores are calculated using the combined Skill + Catch points from all 3 eligible Horizon rounds mentioned above
- Each score can be up to a max of 7 points. Consisting of up to 5 Skill Pts + 2
Catch Pts
- Maximum Base Monthly Score = 21
League Placement Points (LPP) – “Similar to Competition Points”
After monthly rankings across all locations have been established via all eligible Teams BMS Scores mentioned above, teams will receive additional Placement/Competition Points using a Floating Bubble system. LPP points are issued by class. (Open, Lap, Legend, and Juniors)
Placement Tiers
- Tier 1 = Top 10% → +8 LPP
- Tier 2 = Next 15% → +6 LPP
- Tier 3 = Next 25% → +4 LPP
- Tier 4 = Next 25% → +3 LPP
- Tier 5 = Next 15% → +2 LPP
- Tier 6 = Bottom 10% → +1 LPP
Each Team's BMS and LPP points are added together to determine their final monthly team points.
