BCAFM Listen + Learn Indigenous Reconciliation Survey

  • In 2026, BC Association of Farmers’ Markets (BCAFM) is undertaking a Listen + Learn Indigenous Reconciliation engagement process to better understand how farmers’ markets, food systems, and related programs intersect with Indigenous communities, Indigenous food sovereignty, and local realities across British Columbia.

This work is grounded in listening, relationship-building, and respect. It is intended to help BCAFM better understand where meaningful relationships, access, responsibilities, and opportunities may exist, and to support future priorities. Survey responses will help inform BCAFM Indigenous Reconciliation and Food Sovereignty engagement work, including future recommendations, priorities, and opportunities for deeper dialogue and relationship-building.

BCAFM is a registered BC society that supports, develops, and promotes farmers’ markets across British Columbia. This work is connected to BCAFM’s broader commitment to Indigenous Reconciliation, Indigenous Food Sovereignty, relationship-building, and strengthening local food systems across the province.

Indigenous voices are the cornerstone of this work and will be prioritized throughout this process. At the same time, BCAFM also recognizes that farmers’ markets bring together many people, including vendors, market managers, partners, customers, community organizations, and allies. This survey includes space for a range of perspectives, experiences, reflections, and ideas while ensuring Indigenous experiences and knowledge remain central.

Participation is voluntary. The survey will remain open until June 30, 2026, at 11:59 PM. Some participants may be contacted regarding possible follow-up conversations or future engagement opportunities connected to this work.

If consent is provided, contact information will be stored separately from survey responses and used only for optional follow-up conversations, future engagement opportunities connected to this work, or prize draw administration.

In recognition of the time and care involved in sharing your perspective, participants who choose to provide contact information will be entered into a draw to win one of three $200 gift cards.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences, insights, and perspectives as part of this process.
