Details and Rules of the Event
Participants should arrive by 8 AM to check in. Tournament will begin at 8:30 AM.
All team members must be present to play. No substitutions after close of registration. Any unregistered players may result in a team DQ.
Tournament is single elimination. Team can consist of 4 players.
Games are played on a half-court.
Each game will be to 11 points or 15 minutes long. The team must win by only one point.
Coin toss will determine first possession of each game.
Teams score by either regular one-point baskets, or by two-point shots.
A game is over once one team scores 11 points OR when 15 minutes (running clock) have elapsed.
If the game ends in a tie after regulation time there will be a one-minute overtime period to determine winner.
No stalling is permitted. Stalling by the offensive team shall result in a turnover.
Substitutions can be made only on a dead ball. The ball is dead after every foul, violation, or basket.
After a dead ball, the team on offense must check the ball with the defense.
Defensive rebounds must be cleared if the ball touched the rim. ***If not cleared it is a turnover. ***
The ball is cleared when the player with the ball establishes both feet behind the 3-point line.
When a defensive rebounder makes a direct pass that clears the ball, he must clear the lane with both feet before receiving a pass. Otherwise, it is a turnover.
Once a team has cleared the ball and establishes itself on offense, the normal "3 seconds in the key" rule applies. The three-second rule will apply to all offensive players.
***Steals don’t have to be cleared. ***
After a basket has been scored or a foul (not a shooting foul) called, a player must put the ball in play from the half court line.
All held balls will be put into play at half court. ***alternate possession rule is in effect. ***
Fouls will be called by the court referee.
A foul called in the ***act of shooting*** will result in either 1 or 2 points being awarded to the team which was fouled, depending on where the player was fouled and in which case his/her team receives the points for the basket and the other team is then awarded possession.
Non-shooting foul, team will take out the ball at the half court line.
Each team is only allowed one 30-second timeout per game.
A technical foul results in the opposing team being awarded 2 points and possession.
***When a player receives a technical foul, they must sit out the remainder of that game. Any player receiving a total of two technical fouls in the tournament must sit out the remainder of the tournament. ***
