Purpose
The purpose of the Excellence in Research in Women’s Health Award is to recognize a member of the Women’s Health Dietetic Practice Group (WH DPG) who has contributed to field of women's health nutrition by conducting or supporting research investigations, writing or editing for peer-reviewed research publications, or presenting research at professional conferenes or Academy-approved CPE webinars.
Criteria

Criteria for Selection of the Excellence in Research in Women’s Health Award:

Must be a member of the WH DPG for a minimum of 1 year immediately prior to application date; commitment to maintain WHDPG membership for at least 1 additional year after selection as an award recipient.

Minimum of 3 years credentialed as an RDN or NDTR.

Not a previous recipient of the Excellence in Research in Women’s Health Award.

Developed, was a major contributor to, or used innovative approaches in researching nutrition for women's health.

At least one publication in a refereed journal or newsletter.

Innovative approaches must be the work of the individual and not by a third party. Funding and/or technical assistance provided by private sources is acceptable; however, must be disclosed on the application form. Accepted funding is allowed only from companies that comply with the policies set by the DPG.

Members of the WH DPG Executive Committee are eligible to apply for this award.

Procedure for Selection
The complete responsibility for the selection of the Excellence in Practice in Women’s Health Award rests with the WH DPG nominating committee.
The coordinator is the WH DPG Awards Chair.
All applications are scored blindly. In the event of a tie, the WH DPG Chair will make the final decision.

Action Following Selection
The selected individual will receive an award of $500.00 and a certificate presented at the Academy Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo™ or mailed to the recipient if they are not attending FNCE®.
The individual will also be featured in the Women’s Health newsletter and/or WH DPG website.

The WH member submitting the nomination should complete and submit all forms.

Forms are due by May 31, 2026, 11:59 pm ET.

Individuals can self-nominate.

The application packet should contain the following:

Completed nomination form. (1 page)

Page identifying how the applicant or nominee has: (1 page)
- Developed, was a major contributor to, or used innovative approaches in the research of nutrition for women’s health.
- Identified what and where the results of this research were published.

Applicant or nominee’s Current CV or resume. (5-page maximum)

Contact information for two professional and/or community member references who have worked closely with the Nominee/Applicant.
