About Tribal Energy Upgrade

Tribal Energy Upgrade empowers Tribes through energy-related initiatives that advance Tribal energy sovereignty in San Diego County. This program provides tailored technical support and capacity building for the 17 federally recognized Tribes in San Diego County served by San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E).
Enrolling with SDREN is a partnership

What You Get:
- A dedicated project manager and technical assistance team with broad expertise at no cost.
- Individualized support for energy project planning, audits and retrofit development.
- Access to incentives, financing options, energy benchmarking and referrals to other SDREN programs.
- Opportunities to connect with peer Tribes through TECC workshops and learning exchanges.
Program Commitments:
- Work with TECC to share access to relevant facilities, operational details and utility data to support energy audits and project development.
- Collaborate with TECC to complete any authorization forms needed to release utility and project data for incentive, financing or service applications.
- Consider and, where feasible, implement recommended energy-saving strategies that fit your Tribe's needs and priorities.
- Stay engaged through communications and peer learning to share resources and best practices across Tribes.
What Happens After Enrollment

Once enrolled, you’re assigned a dedicated project manager (PM) who reaches out to your designated representative to schedule an introductory meeting or site visit. From there, your PM works closely with your Tribe to identify priority facilities and projects, navigate applicable SDREN incentives and services, and develop a project timeline that fits your goals and capacity. All documentation, Tribal approvals, and coordination with SDREN is handled with your PM's support every step of the way.
