Capital Pride Pageant 2026 Application
Capital Pride is now accepting applications from drag artists in the National Capital Region to compete in the 2026 Capital Pride Pageant. Successful applicants will enter as contestants for either Ms., Mr., or Mx. Capital Pride.

Contestants will be evaluated by a panel of judges in the categories of Best Drag and Talent Performance. The top two contestants in each of the Ms., Mr., and Mx. categories will then be evaluated on their response to a question submitted by the Judges and a Lip Sync for the Crown.

The Capital Pride Pageant will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026. All contestants must be available for the entire day. Additionally, contestants must be available to participate in a photo shoot on June 21, 2025.

All contestants will be compensated $500 for their participation. The winners of each of the Ms., Mr., and Mx. categories will receive an additional monetary prize of $1,000, and perform at both the Pageant After Party and on the Capital Pride Mainstage on either August 29 or 30.

Applications must be submitted no later than May 29, 2026. Applications will be reviewed by a panel of local experts and all applicants will be notified of our decision by June 1, 2026. Please note that this application process is an expression of interest and does not constitute an agreement between you and Capital Pride nor does it imply that you will be selected to perform in the Capital Pride Pageant or other festival venue. Successful applicants will be contacted by Capital Pride and will be required to complete a performer agreement.

Mr. Capital Pride performers identify as a member of the 2SLGBTQ+ community and are portraying a male gender expression throughout the entire night of the pageant. Ms. Capital Pride performers identify as a member of the 2SLGBTQ+ community and are portraying a female gender expression throughout the entire night of the pageant. Mx. Capital Pride performers are not required to identify with the gender binary nor are they asked to portray a specified gender expression. Instead, they are encouraged to present themselves and perform the way they feel most comfortable.

Contestants are encouraged to film the video in Drag, however it is not required. Contestants must film the video horizontally (landscape). Videos do not need to be professionally filmed. The video must not exceed 1 minute and 45 seconds in length. Contestants must begin the video by listing their Drag name, pronouns (in drag) and what title they’re hoping to compete for. Feel free to also speak a bit about your Drag persona and any information you wish to share.

Pride events, including the Capital Pride Festival, exist to promote the values of equity, diversity and inclusion at events, and more broadly in communities across Canada and throughout the world for members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
