IMC/VMC Club Scenario Suggestions

We are actively looking for ideas for scenarios for EAA chapters to use in their IMC and/or VMC Club meetings and appreciate your suggestions. The fields on this form will give you an idea of the structure, but you will note that not all of them are required. Scenarios can be based on something that you experienced personally, read about in an accident or incident report, or a believable hypothetical situation. Scenarios must present the reader/listener with a situation that will prompt thoughtful discourse when they are faced with the question “what would you do?” To be effective, there must be multiple plausible courses of action a pilot might consider when faced with a particular scenario. We’re not looking for yes or no questions, or even necessarily situations with only one correct response.

Year (if relevant), make, and model, summary of avionics, fuel capacity, etc.

Circumstances/Plan

The intent of the flight along with the departure and destination airports.

Weather

General plain text summary (think decoded METAR) of current conditions and forecast at relevant locations.

The Flight

A step-by-step narrative from preflight to "the problem."

The Problem

The issue faced by the pilot, prompting the "what would you do?" question.

Outcome

If based on a real-world scenario, what did the pilot do and what was the result?
