  • The ideal candidate will support the Farm Manager in many aspects of the farm’s operations. Key responsibilities will include operating hay and sawmill equipment, caring for animals, compost and grounds management duties, and routine farm maintenance. This position will support the Farm Manager in doing equipment repairs and carpentry projects, in addition to assisting with on-site poultry processing and other farm tasks. This position will be encouraged to offer input on farm operations and may have the opportunity to contribute to farm management decisions after gaining experience on the farm. There is strong potential for job growth for the right candidate, including taking on increased management or supervisory responsibilities and/or transitioning into a managerial role at the farm.

    Duties may include:

    • Feed and water animals, and monitor food and water supplies
    • Clean and maintain poultry coops
    • Package compost
    • Maintain farm grounds and landscaping
    • Assist in the processing of poultry on-site
    • Additional duties, to be assigned as necessary 

    Desired qualifications and abilities:

    • Experience and knowledge in raising livestock and poultry
    • Ability to work extended periods without oversight
    • Demonstrated ability to plan work over an extended schedule
    • Ability to work well both independently and in a team
    • Good communication skills
    • Ability to maintain a fast work pace
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time

    Schedule:

    This is a seasonal position that runs from spring through November. During the primary season (May–November), the position is expected to average approximately 32 hours per week. A schedule will be established at the time of hire, though seasonal fluctuations should be expected. For example, November is an especially busy time of year and may require longer shifts or schedule adjustments.

    As this is a seasonal role, employment is expected to conclude at the end of the season in November.

  • Criteria and Expectations:

    • Employees must be at least 18 years of age
    • Farm work is physically demanding. Employees are expected to be physically fit and able. Duties may include lifting up to 50 pounds and being on your feet for long periods of time.
    • Schedules can be variable based upon the season. Employees are expected to be flexible. Work can begin as early as 6:00am and may end as late as 5:00pm, depending on the duties.
    • Punctuality and good communication are vital to ensure the work is started and completed by the team.
