Scholarship Qualifications & About:
The essay, “I Will Remember You,” is an opportunity for you to reflect on the importance of respecting and staying connected with the older generations in your life. Whether it is a grandparent, elderly neighbor, teacher, family friend, or someone in your community, think about what they have taught you and why their experiences matter. Our elders carry stories, wisdom, and lessons that can help guide us through life. In your essay, share why it is important to listen to them, learn from them, and treat them with kindness and respect.
You may also write about the importance of maintaining communication with older adults. In today’s busy world, it can be easy to forget to call, visit, or spend time with them, but those moments can mean everything. A simple conversation, letter, phone call, or visit can help an older person feel valued and remembered. Consider how staying connected not only benefits them, but also enriches your own life by creating stronger relationships, preserving memories, and teaching you things that might otherwise be lost.
You may also write about a specific relationship you have with someone and what you’ve learned from them.
