City of Cornwall – Tourism Marketing Photography

By submitting one or more photographs (“Photo”) to the City of Cornwall, the individual (“Entrant”) agrees to the following Terms & Conditions.

    1. Purpose
This Photo submission initiative is a tourism marketing activity led by the City of Cornwall. Submitted images will be considered for use on Highway 401 Area Profile tourism signage and may also be considered for future City of Cornwall tourism and marketing initiatives intended to attract visitors and promote Cornwall as a destination.

This is not an art competition or public vote.

    2. Eligibility
Open to individuals who are 18 years of age or older at the time of submission.
Entrants must be the original photographer and sole copyright holder of the Photo.
City of Cornwall employees directly involved in administering the selection process are not eligible to receive a prize.

    3. Submission Period
    Start Date: May 4, 2026
    End Date: June 12, 2026
Late or incomplete submissions may not be considered.

    4. Photo Requirements
    Submitted Photos must:

    • Be tourism‑focused and suitable for destination marketing
    • Be original works created by the Entrant
    • Not contain logos, watermarks, or signatures
    • Not infringe on any third‑party rights

The City of Cornwall reserves the right to disqualify any submission that does not meet these requirements or is deemed unsuitable for public use.

    5. Consent & Privacy
By submitting a Photo, the Entrant confirms that:

Any recognizable individual appearing in the Photo has provided consent for their image to be used (including parental or guardian consent for minors, where applicable); and
Documentation of consent can be provided upon request.

    6. Designer Adjustments
The Entrant acknowledges that, if shortlisted or selected, the Photo may be edited or modified by the City or its designer for signage and marketing purposes. This may include:

    • Colour, brightness, contrast, or saturation adjustments
    • Cropping or resizing
    • Placement of bilingual text within the image
    • The final design may differ from the original submitted Photo.

    7. Selection Process
City staff will review all eligible submissions and shortlist up to five (5) Photos.
Shortlisted Photos will be presented to City Council, who will make the final selection.

All decisions made by the City and Council are final.

    8. Prize
One (1) prize will be awarded to the Entrant whose Photo is selected by City Council.
The prize consists of a gift pack featuring passes or experiences from local Cornwall attractions.
The prize has no cash value, is non‑transferable, and may not be exchanged.
The City reserves the right to substitute the prize with an equivalent item if necessary.

    9. Copyright & Usage Rights
By submitting a Photo, the Entrant confirms that they are the original creator and copyright holder of the image.

All photographs submitted through this initiative will be retained by the City of Cornwall, regardless of whether they are selected for the Highway 401 Area Profile signage. Submitted Photos may be stored in a municipal image database and considered for use in other future City of Cornwall tourism, marketing, communications, or promotional initiatives.

Submission of a Photo does not guarantee selection or use. No additional prize or compensation will be awarded for future use beyond the original initiative, and Entrants will not be contacted if their Photo is used or not used for other marketing purposes.

The City of Cornwall is under no obligation to use any submitted Photo and reserves the right to select images at its discretion, in accordance with these Terms & Conditions.

    10. No Obligation / No Compensation
Submission does not guarantee selection or use of any Photo.
No compensation will be provided for submitted, shortlisted, or selected Photos beyond the stated prize.
