Our fall semester will run on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 4:30–6:30pm at KQED Headquarters in the Mission District.

About Next Gen:
Next Gen is a free after-school program for San Francisco youth (ages 14–17) where students learn video production or animation, create original projects, build a portfolio, and work alongside teaching artists and peers in a supportive, creative environment. Students who complete the program receive a $300 stipend.

Tracks

Factory (Video Production)
Learn how to make your own films, from idea to final edit. You’ll use cameras, learn storytelling, and create short video projects about topics that matter to you.

Animation
Explore how animation works, from hand-drawn frames to digital tools and stop-motion. No prior experience needed, just curiosity and creativity.

Student Board
A smaller leadership-focused group of returning students who help shape the program, support events, and build skills in collaboration, planning, and creative direction.
