  • Funding for Just Transition Participatory Budgeting:

  •

    Introduction:

This fund is part of a £500 million Just Transition Capital Fund, distributed over ten years to support the north-east of Scotland in its transition to a net zero economy—one that does not rely on fossil fuels such as oil and gas.

In this fifth and final year of the fund, £1 million will be allocated through a participatory budgeting (PB) process across the north-east. In Moray, £333,333 will be available to community groups to deliver capital projects that support a just transition to net zero.

Of this, £33,333 will be made available exclusively to young people, who will run their own Just Transition PB process with support from Money for Moray and tsiMORAY.

The remaining £300,000 will be made available to community groups. This will be split into:

    ·         £150,000 open to all groups

    ·         £150,000 prioritising groups without paid development staff

Groups can apply for up to £50,000 for their Just Transition project.

Projects will be assessed against the criteria by the Just Transition Participatory Partnership. Those that meet the criteria will then be put to a public vote. Voters will decide which projects they believe will make the greatest contribution towards a just transition to a carbon-neutral Moray.

Please have the GUIDANCE to hand so that you can refer back to it as you complete your application.

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on 31 August 2026
