Speakers: MinnieJean Brown-Trickey and Dr. Wendi Williams
The Dr. Jean Lau Chin Address honors the life and legacy of Dr. Jean Lau Chin (1944–2020), a groundbreaking Asian American psychologist, educator, and advocate whose work transformed understandings of leadership, diversity, and cultural competence in psychology. A cherished former faculty member and advisory committee member of the Leadership Institute for Women in Psychology, Dr. Chin championed inclusive leadership models that elevate diverse voices, particularly women and leaders from historically marginalized communities.
Held annually, the Chin Address brings this spirit to life by featuring visionary leaders whose work reflects Dr. Chin’s commitment to social justice, equity, and transformative leadership. Past speakers have included prominent authors, national thought leaders, trailblazing scientists, and influential advocates whose lived experiences and professional contributions embody the importance of inclusive and representative leadership.
In this tradition, the 2026 Chin Address will present a moderated conversation between Minnijean Brown-Trickey, a member of the historic Little Rock Nine and lifelong civil rights advocate, and APA President Dr. Wendi Williams. Together, they will explore the enduring impact of courageous leadership, the role of women in shaping social change, and the ongoing pursuit of equity in psychology and beyond.
By uplifting voices like these, the Chin Address serves as an annual reminder of Dr. Chin’s enduring belief that leadership is strongest when it is inclusive, intersectional, and rooted in justice.
