2027 SHIPP Study Away Course Grant Application

The Athenaeum is pleased to accept applications for its Summer High-Impact Practice Program (SHIPP) for summer 2027. SHIPP is a competitive program that offers grants of up to $1,000 to enroll in Batten University's study away courses.

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible:
1. Have a minimum GPA of 2.7
2. Register with Batten University for the study away course in summer 2027
3. Have no academic violations
4. Have no serious conduct violations

Upon return to Batten University, recipients agree to:
1. Enroll at Batten University in fall 2027
2. Submit 4 photographs at the study away site

Applications for summer 2027 will be accepted until 11:59 pm on March 1, 2027

To apply, fill out and submit the application below. Note: To complete this application, you will need to submit the following:
1. Study Away Response
2. Copy of Passport Page (international) or Other Government Issued ID

In addition, provide a letter of recommendation from a full-time Batten University faculty member. The letter is due at time of submission of the application. It should be sent to Brooke Novkovic, Director of Global Engagement, blnovkovic@vwu.edu.

Name of the Batten University faculty member who will provide a letter of recommendation. Please note, this must be a regular full-time Batten University professor and cannot be the faculty instructor of the course you are going on.

How will this study away experience support your academic, personal, professional, and civic goals? 4.) What do you hope to do academically and professionally after you study away?

Upload a copy of the photo page of your passport or government issued ID. Please note, you will need a passport to travel internationally and the application process can be lengthy.
