We want to sell your zines! We are taking submissions for consignment and wholesale opportunities for zine creators in Canada.
What are we looking for?
Zines of any topic and size by disabled, chronically ill, mentally ill, Mad, and/or Neurodivergent folks. We also strongly encourage submissions from creators who are also racialized and/or 2SLGBTQ+.
Zine must already be printed and ready to deliver to us in a minimum batch of 10. For consignment, we will send you a consignment agreement form to complete upon acceptance. For wholesale, we will request an invoice from you.
You may pitch up to 3 zines for consideration.
We will not accept zines that include any ableism, racism, homophobia, fatphobia, or other forms of discrimination. Absolutely no use of generative AI will be considered. We reserve the right to discontinue sales of your zines with immediate effect if we discover generative AI has been used in the creation process.
Where will we sell them?
Consignment will be featured at in-person markets. For inclusion on our website, you must send over web-ready high res images and a description.
Wholesale zines will featured at in-person markets, on our website, and be considered for any retail locations we have a presence at.
If your zines are selected, we will coordinate with you directly about dropping off or getting products to us in-person or by delivery.
Rates
Our consignment rate is 35%. Meaning when we sell your zine, you will receive 65% of its sale price. You are welcome to keep selling the zine through your own means and request unsold copies back at any time.
Our consignment rate supports paying for table and transaction fees.
Our wholesale fee is 50%. Meaning when we purchase your zines, you will receive 50% of the retail value. These copies are then considered property of Sick Stories and we will be able to sell them in all locations of our choosing.
Our wholesale rate supports costs of table and transaction fees, website maintenance, and rental or consignment fees for retail locations we have a presence at.
Payment
Consignment and royalty payments for zines sold during a given month will be sent by e-transfer the first week of the following month, unless the total is under $10, at which point the balance will be carried forward.
