The Stewarts Creek High School Choirs program is a co-curricular activity, with activites in and out of school. Participation in choir is not a requirement for graduation, but rather is a voluntary and elective choice.
Because annual funding through the Rutherford County School budget accounts for a small fraction of the total needed for the fundamentals of an effective choir program, funding for about 95% of the overall annual budget is requested as an investment from each family in the form of a financial contribution. We ask that each student in Giovani Voci, Meistersingers, and Bel Canto contribute $65 as a required class fee by the end of August each Fall. Students in Apollo and Athena should contribute $85 as a required retreat fee each Fall and a $65 required class fee by the end of January each Spring. While we can have some flexibility with the timing of these payments, we do ask that you have a plan to have these fees paid in full by the end of the school year. We are willing and able to take small monthly payments either electronically or by cash/check.
This fee helps to defray administrative and artistic costs associated with the choral program. Students who take advantage of free or reduced lunch benefits must confidentially speak with Dr. Kelly or Dr. Russell to arrange a modified fee schedule.
Additional choral opportunities, such as auditions and participation in Honor Choirs, Field Trips, etc, may require additional fees to cover participation, registration, etc. In order to participate in these events, we require a $10 downpayment for each event, due one week prior to the event. While we can have some flexibility with the timing of the full payments, we do ask that you have a plan to have these fees paid in full by the end of the school year. We are willing and able to take small monthly payments either electronically or by cash/check. Additionally, If fees from the previous year are not paid for these extra optional events, we reserve the right to limit a student’s continued participation in these events.
If there is ever a financial situation that arises, please do not hesitate to contact the choir directors. We are here to help. Communication is the key. To avoid report cards and/or student records/transcripts being held, we ask that all families contact the choir directors to settle all class fee obligations. We must also insist that all financial obligations must be current or paid in full in order for students to participate in optional special trips.
Students approved for Free/Reduced Lunch or RCS Fee Waiver will have the $65 Choir Class Fee waived; however, other fees (for honor choirs, special trips, etc), cannot be waived and are expected to be paid in full.
