June 27, 2026 at Stem Adventure Center
  • Learn how to take Girl Scouts through the wild cave at Stem Adventure Center!

When:  Saturday, June 27, from 9 am to 4 pm Eastern

Where:  You will begin your training at Kornhauser Lodge at Stem Adventure Center, 2665 Crosier Road, Laconia, IN 47135.  After lunch you will explore the wild cave, then return to Kornhauser to clean up and close the training.

Description:  The classroom portion of this training will be from 9 am to noon.  After a 30 minute lunch break, you will drive a short distance to Tobacco Landing (on the Ohio River and still on the Stem property) and hike to the wild cave.  The hike to the cave is moderately strenuous, as is going through the cave itself.  There are tight places within the cave. After exploring the cave, you will return to Kornhauser Lodge to clean up.  Expect to get wet and muddy,  so dress accordingly.

What to bring: Bring a sack lunch, a water bottle, and insect repellent.  You may want to have a change of clothes for returning home.  All caving safety equipment and head lamps will be provided for you to use as part of the training.

Cost:  $10 per participant.  Make checks payable to Stem Adventure Center and mail to Karen Kaake, 670 Martin John Road, Lanesville, IN 47136.

Deadline:  Class size is limited to 20.  Registration and payment must be received by no later than June 22, 2026.  Please allow sufficient time for your mailed check to be delivered by June 22.
