    Field Based Investigations for Teachers

    Join us for a hands-on Educator Field Lab focused on ecology and biodiversity. This workshop is designed for middle and high school teachers who want to bring real-world environmental science into their classrooms through engaging, field-based experiences.

    PD Credit: 6 Hours

    During this workshop, participants will:

    • Explore forest, aquatic, and wetland ecosystems
    • Participate in a guided field investigation along Flint Creek
    • Learn species identification using dichotomous keys
    • Investigate nutrient cycling and decomposition
    • Practice field journaling techniques with take-home applications
    • Discover classroom-ready activities aligned with Alabama Science Standards

    This is an active, outdoor learning experience including a guided hike along the banks of the Flint Creek. Teachers will leave with practical tools, lesson ideas, and increased confidence in teaching ecology and biodiversity in their classrooms.
