SUMMARY

Nominations are invited for the following honorary Deputy Officer & Advisor positions:

 PREREQUISITES

All officer/deputy officer nominees must members must:

1. Be a current member of a Surf Life Saving Club or Branch within Queensland
2. Hold a current Working with Children Blue Card or Exemption Notice
3. Most hold the SLSQ Child Safe Awareness Induction
4. Be over 18 years of age

All advisor nominees must members must:

1. Must hold a current Working with Children Blue Card or Exemption Notice.
2. Must hold the SLSQ Child Safe Awareness Induction.
3. Must be over 18 years of age 

RESPONSIBILITIES

It is strongly recommended that prospective nominees carefully read the job descriptions contained in the section 6, 7 and 8 of the SLSQ Regulations. 

Provide two referees, who have worked within SLSQ with the nominee, to be contacted for a brief reference check. They must:

• Must not be the proposer or seconder
• Must not be a family member
• Must not be a staff member

As per section 12.2 of SLSQ Regulations

Conflicts of Interests and Disclosure

• A conflict of interest occurs when an individual's personal interests – family, friendships, financial, or social factors – could compromise their judgment, decisions, or actions.
• Where a member interest exists, real or perceived, the nature and necessary details of that interest must be declared at the first meeting at which the interest is a relevant consideration i.e., the appointment or participation of a person with an interest, if the interest exists, or in any other case at the first meeting after the acquisition of the interest.
• Financial Interests
  1. No Councillor, Director, Committee or Panel Member shall hold any place of profit or position of employment within SLSQ in any company or incorporated association in which SLSQ is a shareholder or otherwise interested, unless participation in the Council, Board, Committee or Panel is mandated as part of the role for which they are aemployed.
  2. If a Councillor, Director, Committee or Panel Member becomes interested in a contract or arrangement after it is made or entered into, the declaration of the interest must be made at the first meeting of the Board held after the Officer becomes so interested.
• A general notice that a member has a specific ongoing interest and is to be regarded as interested in all discussions, decisions and/or transactions related to that interest is sufficient declaration. After such general notice it is not necessary for such members to give a special notice relating to any particular discussions, decisions and/or transactions relating to that interest.
• A record must be made in the minutes of the meeting of any declarations made.
• A determination must be made in relation to all disclosures and recorded in the minutes of the meeting. Notwithstanding the outcome of the determination, the person making the disclosure must be excluded from any vote in making that determination.
• A member notwithstanding an interest, may be counted in the quorum present at any meeting, despite being excluded from the matter in which the member is interested.
• A Councillor, Director, Committee or Panel member shall not sign a document where the Councillor, Director, Committee or Panel member is interested in the contract or arrangement to which the document relates.
