    Please sign up below to help at Hales Corners Library during Summer Library Programs.
  • Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Hales Corners Library during the 2026 Summer Library Program. We are looking for volunteers in many different areas and at many different dates and times.

    Before each volunteer opportunity there will be a description of what will be required of you as a volunteer during that program and how long each volunteer opportunity will be.

  • Wednesdays at the Library Volunteers

    As a Wednesday at the Library volunteer, you will be working with Emily, the youth services librarian, during our major Wednesday programs in the summer. You will be counting how many people attend the program using a click counter and will be asked to help with crowd control of the children during the program. You will also help Emily reset the community room after the program.

    All programs start at 10:30 AM, unless otherwise stated. Please come to the library at least 15 minutes early to sign in on our volunteer form and get instructions from Emily.

    Each Wednesday at the Library volunteer opportunity will be a maximum of 2 hours of volunteer time. Usually 10:15 AM - 12:15 PM.

  • Dino Detectives Lab Volunteers

    These volunteers will assist Emily during our Dino Detectives Lab. They will be helping with children's questions as well as assisting with the projects we will be creating.

    The programs start at 2 PM on Thursdays and volunteers would be expected to be here by 1:30 PM to sign in on our volunteer form and get instructions about what the current lab is about.

    Each opportunity will usually run from 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM and volunteers will be asked to help with set up and take down of the Lab.

  • T(w)een Tuesday Volunteers

    These volunteers will be working with Justen, our assistant programming coordinator, during our t(w)een Tuesday programs. They will be expected help with projects that are being created and assist Justen in any way he needs.

    The program starts at 3 PM on Tuesdays and volunteers are expected to be here by 2:30 PM to sign in on our volunteer form and get instructions about what the day's craft is.

    Each opportunity will ususally run from 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM and volunteers will be asked to help with set up and take down of the program.

  • Other Summer Volunteer Opportunities

    Tracking the Buzz - Citizen Science Investigations

    During the Tracking the Buzz programs volunteers are expected to help children and parents with their observations of the library prairie and the pollinators that they see.

    The program begins at 2 PM on July 2nd and volunteers would be expected to be here by 1:30 PM to sign in on our volunteer form and get instructions about the programs.

    This volunteer opportunity will last from 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM and volunteers will be expected to help with setup and take down of the program. 

    Dino-Mite Summer Finale Volunteers

    Every year, the library hosts a summer finale for the summer library program here at the library. This year's finale will be on Saturday, August 1st from 11 AM - 1 PM. There are several volunteer opportunities available during this program, they are as follows:

    Ice Cream Servers: These volunteers will be expected to help serve ice cream to our families at the finale, they will take instruction from a library staff member and will be expected to be present at the event from 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM.

    Craft Volunteers: These volunteers will be stationed at various craft stations throughout the event and will be responsible for making sure that the families doing the craft understand what needs to be done for the craft and assist when needed. These volunteers will be expected to be present from 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM.

    Traffic Directors: These volunteers will be meeting families as they come into the program and directing them to the various crafts as well as fun opportunities to do during the finale. They will also be responsible for give families their ice cream coupons to receive their free ice cream.These volunteers will be expected to be present from 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM.

  • Students who sign up for volunteer opportunities are expected to make sure they are able to be present during the entirity of their volunteer shift, unless already authorized by Emily, the Youth Services Librarian.
