    Interest Form for Georgia’s BEST

  • The Cobb County Board of Education, the Superintendent and the University of West Georgia have formed a partnership to "Build Educator Success Together" by providing certified staff members with a minimum of 3 years of acceptable teaching experience at an accredited PK-12 school (excluding supply/substitute or paraprofessional) the opportunity to complete a graduate degree at no cost to them. The Cobb County School District is pleased to invite certified staff to indicate their interest by submitting this form. The submission of this form does not serve as an official application for admission to the University of West Georgia.

    The Georgia's BEST graduate program is designed to be an academically rigorous and professionally enriching experience for cohort members. It is important that interested candidates understand the professional commitment program participation requires. Georgia's BEST students follow a cohort program of study with required courses identified and sequenced during their enrollment. Students are expected to demonstrate professionalism in their studies by meeting academic deadlines and maintaining professional decorum working with UWG faculty and other students.     It is important interested candidates understand the requirements and the expectations for participation in the Georgia's BEST program and the individual commitment participation requires. To support informed decision-making, please use the UWG program of study link provided later on the form to review program admission requirements, program expectations and the program of study cohort members complete. After your review, you will initial to confirm you have read and meet the program requirements.

    If you are nominated by the Cobb County School District, you will receive a personalized email invitation from the University of West Georgia Graduate School to complete the official application for admission.

    Current and Former Georgia's BEST participants: Current students enrolled in an active cohort are not eligible to apply again at this time to the Georgia's BEST program. If you completed a Georgia's BEST degree program within the past three (3) years, you are not currently eligible to apply again to the program.

  • Applicants selected to participate in the Georgia’s BEST program will be subject to the following terms and conditions:

    1. Commitment Period. Employee continues to work for CCSD in his/her current content area for the duration of the program and at least three years from the date the Employee obtains the specified degree.
    2. Employment – Satisfactory Performance. Employee agrees to maintain satisfactory performance with CCSD.
    3. Academic Progress. Employee agrees to remain in good academic standing as defined by UWG’s academic standing criteria outlined in the Graduate Academic Catalog.
    4. Reimbursement of Tuition and Fees. If the Employee is dismissed or withdrawn from the Georgia’s BEST Program, resigns employment, or is terminated or non-renewed by CCSD prior to the conclusion of the Commitment Period, the Employee agrees to reimburse CCSD for the full cost of tuition and fees paid on behalf of Employee.
