The following outlines the scholarship expectations of the Texas Veterinary Medical Foundation (TVMF) Board of Trustees for the Dr. Bill Haglund Memorial Scholarship.
QUALIFICATIONS
The Dr. Bill Haglund Memorial Scholarship supports deserving veterinary students from Harris County. Recipients shall demonstrate strong involvement in organized veterinary leadership and professional engagement in organizations such as, but not limited to, local veterinary medical associations, TVMA, or rotary.
Applicants should demonstrate leadership, professionalism, and a commitment to advancing the veterinary profession through organized veterinary medicine and community involvement.

Amount: $2,000
Award(s): 2, one per veterinary school
DISTRIBUTION
The scholarship recipient will be announced at the TVMA Annual Conference and may be featured in TVMF publications and/or on social media.
The scholarship will be given via check to the University's Foundation and applied to the student’s school account.
OTHER EXPECTATIONS
- Preference may be given to applicants with roots, residency, or significant ties to Harris County, Texas
- Demonstrates active participation in veterinary student organizations, organized veterinary medicine, or Local Veterinary Medical Associations
- Exhibits leadership, professionalism, and service to the veterinary profession
- Shows commitment to collaboration, mentorship, and professional development
- Demonstrates involvement in community service or veterinary outreach activities
- Minimum 2.5 veterinary school cumulative GPA
- Letter(s) of recommendation
- Essay
