As a sequel to our popular talk on Greek Revival architecture, we turn our attention in this presentation to the grandest of the grand: the Beaux-Arts buildings that dot the New York landscape like ancient temples. From Grand Central and Penn Station to the old Custom House, the New York Public Library, the "Tombs" jail, and so much more, we will look at everything from heroic arches to humbling banks to the ornate-but-practical restroom in Bryant Park and the tile work in the original IRT stations.
