Please check that you have read and agree to each of the statements to join Goldsboro Ballet for the 2026-2027 Dance Season with Goldsboro Civic Ballet. Your Acceptance is a commitment to train the entire performance season June 1, 2026-May 31, 2027 as outlined by acceptance level. Your level acceptance is for placement in the Civic Ballet for the 2026-2027 Dance Season. Your Audition fee covers the cost to audition and a level t-shirt. Support, Apprentice and Company fees also include a digital copy of the Love of Dance performance, placement in pieces (according to the choreographer's discretion and your attendance, participation, effort, and attitude at camps) that will be presented September 19, 2026! You are promising to commit to all parts of this contract. A breach in the contract will result in exclusion of participation for a full season. Placement in Nutcracker (December 4-6, 2026) and The Wizard of Oz Ballet (February 26-28, 2027) will be based on payment of the show performance fee and the completion of the recommitment contract per show. I also understand the following fees for participation in performances ahead will need to be paid to be cast in the Ballets. Nutcracker, (due August 31, 2026) Company-$120, Apprentice-$110, Support-$100, Pre-Support $85. Wizard of Oz, the Ballet (due December 20, 2027) Company-$120, Apprentice-$110, Support-$100, Pre-Support $85.

Health: Dancers may be restricted from activities/performances in the event of injury, or other health concerns. Goldsboro Ballet may require a physician's note (at the cost of the GB members) to allow a GB member to participate in rehearsals/classes or to perform. The inability to dance to full ability two weeks prior to a performance during rehearsal or technique classes will result in adjustments to performances per the decision of the choreographer and Directors. The Artistic Director and Goldsboro Ballet reserve the right to restrict a member from participating or performing in the event there is a health concern for the member or other GB members.
Classes: Members are expected to take, at minimum, the following classes at the School of Goldsboro Ballet. COMPANY LEVEL-Ballet, Pointe, Modern, and Jazz. Tap and Intensive Ballet are recommended by not required. APPRENTICE LEVEL-Ballet, Pointe, and Jazz. Modern, Tap, and Intensive Ballet are recommended but not required. SUPPORT LEVEL-Ballet, Pre-Pointe, and Jazz is required, Tap is recommended. PRE-SUPPORT LEVEL-One hour Ballet class weekly. Class attendance will affect casting and choreography. Should a dancer miss more than 1/4 of their technique classes between now and the show, they may be dismissed from choreography. A minimum of 1 Summer Intensive at the SGB is required, but 2 is highly recommended. Summer training does play a part in casting. Commitment to attending 2 Dance Camps will affect casting.
Costumes, Makeup, and On-stage Appearance: Goldsboro Ballet will provide costumes for major performances. Each GB member provides their own stage makeup, shoes, and tights unless, in some cases, they are provided by the company as part of a costume. All makeup and costume elements must meet the approval of the Artistic Director whether furnished by the dancer or Goldsboro Ballet. GB members must agree to comply to the following appearance guidelines for performances and meet approval of the Artistic Director in all aspects including hair, make-up, and costumes: Dancers will not display visible body piercings, nor tattoos on stage. No jewelry or piercings will be allowed, unless the jewelry is part of the costume or requested by a choreographer and approved by the Artistic Director. Hair must be worn in whatever fashion the Artistic Director dictates. Hair COLOR must be a natural color and any color change (even if natural) close to production or photos needs to be approved by the Director. Any dancer dying their hair may be asked to go back to their natural hair color for the purpose of costuming and artistic appearance, per the Artistic Director. Any concerns or questions should be discussed with the Artistic Director well in advance of performances, pictures, or public presentations. No Character makeup or variance from the outlined makeup guiltiness will be added by parents, committees, or dancers without the prior approval of the Artistic Director. GB Dancers must have the required leotards and skirts (as laid out on the GB website) for class. These must be available at any time to use for performances or public appearances. Glasses will not be allowed onstage, and dancers must have a sport strap to rehearse in glasses.
Attitude, Ethics, Grades, and Public Images: GB members will maintain a high standard of discipline and assume responsibility in their training. GB members will exhibit professional attitudes, behaviors, and generally accepted appearances of the future dancer. Professionalism from each dancer is expected at all times. Dancers are expected to work in class and at rehearsals at 100% of their capabilities. The Director, teachers, and guest choreographers will accept nothing less and have the authority to dismiss any dancer from the class, workshop, or rehearsal for not working to his/her full capacity. GB members are expected to maintain a weight acceptable to the dancer and keep good health habits. Body types vary and will be considered when choosing casting for costumes and appropriate looks for each dancer. GB members must not smoke, drink, or be connected in any way with drugs/usage. GB members must not be involved in any crimes and must not be involved in any cases against them. Dancers must maintain a high image, as they must understand wherever they go or what they do reflects on the Goldsboro Ballet. Grades at school must be maintained to the family's expectations first and foremost. Struggles with schoolwork or absences due to overloaded schoolwork will result in reduced involvement in choreography and casting for the good of the dancer.
Parent and Dancer Support: All dancers and parents must agree to accept and support all roles assigned. All casting decisions are final and non-negotiable. Decisions by the Director are not to be discussed by any party by phone, social media, or in-person.
Dismissal: Artistic Directors reserve the right to dismiss dancers from Goldsboro Ballet when they determine it is in the best interest of the Goldsboro Ballet and the other dancers. Every effort will be made to correct a problematic situation before a dancer is withdrawn. No refunds of company fees will be made. Reasons for dismissal include the following...*Disruptive or dangerous behavior by students or their parents. *Abuse of other dancers, staff, or property. *Inability of Goldsboro Ballet to meet the dancer's needs. *Ethical or social media violations. *Excessive unexplained absences with no plan or effort to rectify. *Concerns about the dancer's health or potential injury. *Excessive non-payment of tuition or fees through the SGB.
Each Family is expected to actively serve on a minimum of 2 committees, but encouraged to volunteer on 4 committees. Goldsboro Ballet is a non-profit and is carried by our volunteers! The only way this is possible is with everyone's help! You will sign up for these committees at the mandatory meeting during your child(ren)'s audition.
Each Family is expected to sell or purchase a MINIMUM of 2 Ads for each performance! These may be "GOOD LUCK" ads or "BUSINESS" ads! We encourage you to try and find more support and sell more than 2 ads, but 2 ads are required! A family may opt to donate $80/show in lieu of selling ads for that production. A bill will be sent to those families that do not sell ads.
Liability Release: The Dancer and/or his/her guardian release and discharge the Goldsboro Civic Ballet, its respective agents, affiliates, officers, directors, and employees from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions and causes of action whatsoever, arising out of or related to any loss, damage or injury, that may be sustained by the undersigned while participating in the Goldsboro Civic Ballet Company. Photos of performances, rehearsals, and classes may be used for publicity of Goldsboro Ballet and by Goldsboro Ballet.
Outside Activities: GB Members are discouraged from participating in outside activities if they interfere with GB, pose a conflict in the physical training or technical training of the dancer, or pose an injury or health risk to the GB member. It is expected that special permission be requested from the Artistic Director for GB members to participate in outside activities that may interfere with Goldsboro Ballet. Upon taking on additional activities, dancers and their families must be aware of the consequences involving casting and choreography.
I am the parent/legal guardian of the above dancer and hereby confirm that we have read, clicked on, and agree to follow the contract put forth by Goldsboro Ballet. We pledge as a family to volunteer on committees, commit to rehearsal schedules, and support the decisions of the Directors. I will be available for any parent conference needed to discuss any breech of contract. By signing below I agree to these terms.
