  • Louisiana Firefighter's Foundation Scholarship Application

    Complete this application to be considered for the scholarship and review the eligibility criteria and important deadlines.
  • Eligibility Criteria:

    • The applicant must be a child (biological or adopted) of an active member of the Louisiana Firefighters Foundation.
    • The applicant must be accepted or currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
    • The applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
    • The applicant must be pursuing a full-time undergraduate or graduate program.
    • The scholarship is available for both in-state and out-of-state students.

    Scholarship Award:

    • Four scholarships of $2,500 each will be awarded each year.
    • Justin Westbrook Memorial Award - One $3,000 scholarship will be awarded to the top rated scholar.
    • The scholarship may be applied to tuition, books, or other educational costs at an accredited college or university.

    Application Process:

    1. Submit Application Form:
      • The applicant must complete the official LAFF Scholarship Application Form.
      • The form must include the applicant's full name, contact information, relationship to the LAFF member, and educational plans. 
    2. Essay Submission:
      • The applicant must write an essay (no more than 500 words) answering the following question:
        “How has your parent’s role as a firefighter influenced your life, and how will this scholarship help you achieve your academic and career goals?”
      • The essay must be original, thoughtful, and showcase the applicant's passion for their education and future career.
    3. Academic Transcripts:
      • The applicant must submit an official high school or college transcript to demonstrate academic achievement.
      • If the applicant is a high school senior, a current transcript will be sufficient.
    4. Proof of Parent's Membership:
      • Proof will be verified by the LAFF Scholarship Committee.
      • Must be current on LAFF dues.
    5. Two Letters of Recommendation:
      • At least one letter must be from a teacher or academic advisor who can speak to the applicant's character, work ethic, and academic potential.
      • The second letter can come from a community leader, employer, or another individual who can speak to the applicant's leadership abilities and dedication.
  • Application Deadline

  • All materials must be received by July 17th, 2026. Later or incomplete applications will not be considered.
