  • Once Upon a Time: In the Renaissance

    The Ormond Memorial Art Museum is hosting a fundraiser with a Renaissance theme, and we invite you to contribute to an unforgettable experience that will showcase the art, fashion, literature, and music of the era. We are seeking Renaissance inspired fine art, garments, and decorative objects (please find examples below). Funds raised will support the mission of the museum to inspire our community through art and nature while honoring those who fought for freedom. The exhibition dates are October 10-November 15, 2026. Donors may also elect to gift pieces to the museum to be included in the silent auction. The exhibition will be curated, not all submissions will be a part of the event. Submission Deadline: August 16, 2026. Submission Opportunities: Visual Art - Renaissance or Renaissance-inspired and influenced works; contemporary interpretations of Renaissance themes such as humanism, mythology, innovation, and beauty; period-specific installations (ex: suit of armor, sword & shield). Fashions & Wearable Art - Period-inspired garments for display; Accessories, masks, headpieces, and jewelry. Decorative Objects - Renaissance style ceramics and pottery (plates, goblets, vases, chargers); Metalwork such as chalices, candelabras, armor-inspired elements, or ornamental hardware; Glasswork inspired by Venetian traditions (blown glass vessels, decorative objects); Textiles and fiber arts including tapestries and embroidered panels; Illuminated manuscripts or calligraphy works (framed or displayed as objects); Book arts (handbound journals, decorative folios, sculptural books); Woodwork such as carved boxes, frames, furniture accents, or decorative panels; Leather goods (folios, belts, satchels); Candleholders, lanterns, and lighting elements that evoke period ambiance; Game boards or functional objects inspired by Renaissance leisure and daily life (chess sets, backgammon boards, etc.); Apothecary-style vessels or display pieces(decorative bottles, herb containers, curiosity cabinets); Architectural or garden-inspired elements(small-scale columns, sculptural fragments, ornamental details).
