Poetry in Transit - Featured Poet Application
  • Poetry in Transit - Featured Poet Application

  • Poetry in Transit is an event celebrating community connection–both social and mobile–through written & spoken word.

We’re seeking poets who are bus riders or who have benefitted from public transit to showcase 7-10 minutes of their written work, on a (stationary) bus!

Featured poems don’t have to be about the bus–you can write about walking, biking, rolling, taking the bus, your neighbors/neighborhood, Indianapolis history, or any themes & messages that you take from those modes of transportation or relationships.

Poetry in Transit will take place on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026. Please ensure you are available to read at the event before submitting your work for consideration.

Questions about the event or application process? Reach out to marimbyers@gmail.com and david.charles.strange@gmail.com for help!

  • Format: (000) 000-0000.
  • As a reminder, Poetry in Transit focuses on public transportation and specifically the bus as a mode of social and mobile connection. However, we're open to related themes beyond the bus, such as walking, biking, rolling, community connection, your relationship with your neighbors, neighborhood history, and related lessons or themes.
