Corporal Raul Franco, U.S. Army – Korean War Veteran

Corporal Raul Franco honorably served in the United States Army during a critical period in our Nation’s history, answering the call to duty with courage and unwavering patriotism. Enlisting on July 27, 1949, in Corpus Christi, Texas, CPL Franco committed himself to the defense of freedom at a time when the world once again faced the challenges of conflict during the Korean War.

Serving with D Company, 32nd Infantry Regiment, he stood among the dedicated Soldiers who formed the backbone of America’s ground forces. As an infantryman, CPL Franco carried out his duties with discipline, resilience, and steadfast devotion to mission and country. His service placed him on the front lines during a demanding and often unforgiving conflict, where the strength and resolve of the American Soldier were tested daily.
In recognition of his honorable and distinguished service, CPL Franco was awarded the Korean Service Medal with six bronze service stars, the Presidential Citation, the United Nations Service Medal, and the Combat Infantry Badge. These decorations reflect not only his participation in multiple campaigns, but also his valor and commitment as a frontline warrior in defense of liberty.
After more than three years of faithful service, CPL Franco was honorably discharged on January 19, 1953, in Kerrville, Texas. He returned home carrying with him the enduring values of duty, honor, and sacrifice.

The legacy of Corporal Raul Franco stands as a proud testament to the bravery and dedication of those who served during the Korean War—men who answered their Nation’s call and upheld the freedoms we cherish today.

We honor his service and sacrifice.
