Astropolitics confronts one of the defining questions of our time: when humanity reaches beyond Earth, will we evolve beyond the cycles of conquest and conflict that shaped our past or carry them into the cosmos? Through powerful storytelling and expert insight, the documentary explores a rapidly emerging reality in which nations and private powers are racing toward the Moon, Mars, and beyond, with the future of civilization hanging in the balance.

Produced by The Bertelsmann Foundation and Gauge Theory Creative, the film traces the transformation of space from a symbol of exploration into a contested geopolitical frontier. Drawing connections between Cold War rivalries and today’s escalating competition among global powers, Astropolitics challenges audiences to consider whether outer space will become humanity’s greatest opportunity for cooperation or the spark for the next global conflict.

Through intimate human stories, archival footage, and conversations with leading voices across the space sector, the documentary offers a stark yet hopeful reminder that the choices humanity makes now will determine not only the future of space exploration but also the survival of our shared future on Earth.

Following the screening, the film’s director, Tony Silberfeld, will moderate a panel discussion reflecting on these themes. The discussion will conclude with an audience Q&A session. 

The event begins with a reception at 5:00pm and screening at 6:15pm. The film runs approximately 60 minutes.
