When submitting the form:

ELIGIBILITY: In-House Counsel of any Canadian law department, regardless of size.

First awarded in 2011 as the Social Responsibility Award and later evolved into the ESG Award, this recognition now expands to celebrate the full scope of an In-House Counsel's social contribution.

The Social Impact Award recognizes an In-House Counsel who demonstrates outstanding leadership in corporate responsibility, ESG stewardship, and the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion — aligning the organization's interests with those of its people, communities, and stakeholders, while fostering a culture of ethics, good governance, and inclusion.

Judges will be looking for meaningful and, where possible, measurable impact across ESG leadership, DEI initiatives, community engagement, and policies that drive integrity and long-term organizational growth.

Please ensure you address the following areas in your nomination:

- The Business Case: Describe programmes or initiatives that:
- demonstrate strong environmental, social and governance practices
- embrace diversity and inclusion, and create supportive workplaces
- foster a strong cultural of ethics and integrity
- encourage good governance
- Accountability: How are the ESG initiatives supported and measured?

- Communication: How is the law department and the larger corporation engaged and informed?

- Innovation: What new/different approaches do the ESG initiatives undertake?

- Impact: Discuss the impact of the initiatives since its inception and whether there are measurable results?
