I'm traveling the world for a bit, starting with China but then anywhere: Asia, Middle East, Europe, India, South/North America, Africa, Australia. No plans, only a backpack.
If you have an idea and can give a recommendation, I'm looking for interesting places anywhere in the world that you can recommend I should visit that are off the beaten path - not touristy stuff, but something legendary that tourists may not know about, or a new perspective on a well-known place. It could be as remote as meeting a herder in the mountains who is a local legend, a hidden village, a hole-in-the-wall restaurant only locals know, a master of some craft, etc.
Well-known, legendary places are okay too. But then, it would be super helpful if you can give me recommendations on how to experience it in a non-touristy way: the way a historian, anthropologist or local would experience it.
Please don't recommend yourself. For that, if you want to grab a coffee with me, please use the Coffee with Lex form on the Contact Page instead.
Fill out as much as you can - the more specific, the more helpful it is 🙏 Thank you!
