About Laura:
I am a licensed social worker and educator with specific training in neurodiversity affirming work with trauma, disability, and advocacy. I am also a parent to three children, one of whom is twice exceptional, and have personal and professional experience in working with families and schools on supporting students across intersections of identity and ability.

Who may benefit:
Caregivers (parents, guardians) of students with disabilities. Supporting a child with a disability often involves ongoing advocacy throughout the school year. This group offers a space to reflect on that experience, connect with others, and navigate the challenges that can come with sustained advocacy. It also focuses on supporting well-being, building resilience, and preparing for the upcoming school year.

Description of Offering:
In this 60-minute group, we’ll explore how supporting others can affect your well-being, including topics like secondary trauma and compassion fatigue. You’ll have the opportunity to learn and practice strategies that can help you navigate these experiences in ways that feel right for you. We’ll also make space to connect with one another, share and reflect on your family’s experiences if you’d like, and exchange resources and support. Time will be set aside for questions and specific group concerns.

Confidentiality: Confidentiality is a collective responsibility of all group members and facilitators, and is a necessary commitment for continued participation in the group. Your group facilitators are ethically and legally bound to maintain your confidentiality and will not release your information to anyone outside of RCC without your written permission. Legal and ethical exceptions to confidentiality include: 1) being in imminent danger of harming yourself or someone else; 2) knowledge or suspicion of current and ongoing child abuse or dependent adult abuse; and 3) legal mandates, such as subpoenas or court orders. While group facilitators are legally and ethically required to maintain your confidentiality, except as required by law, group facilitators cannot guarantee that other group members will not share your information with others. Thus, confidentiality among group members is based on mutual trust and respect. By signing this form, I agree to maintain the privacy of my fellow group members. This includes, but is not limited to, names, physical descriptions, medical information, and specifics of the content of interactions with other group members.

Personal Responsibility: I am responsible for my own well-being during and after group meetings. I understand that sharing personal experiences may be emotionally challenging, and I agree to participate in a way that is respectful of myself and others. I will not hold RCC, its staff, or other group members liable for any emotional distress I may experience as a result of participating in the group.

THIS AGREEMENT INCLUDES A WAIVER OF LIABILITY AND LEGAL RIGHTS AND DEPRIVES YOU OF THE RIGHT TO SUE RUTTI COUNSELING & CONSULTATION (“RCC”) AND OTHER WAIVED PARTIES. For and in consideration of allowing me to participate in an online virtual support group hosted by RCC, I, for myself, and on behalf of my spouse, children, parents, guardians, heirs and next of kin, and any legal and personal representatives, executors, administrators, successors and assigns, hereby agree to and make the following contractual representations:I understand and acknowledge that this activity is not therapy nor a therapeutic group, and that no client/therapist relationship is formed by my participation.The information provided to me is educational only and does not constitute the provision of medical, psychological or other professional health care treatment services.In exchange for allowing me to participate, I hereby waive and covenant not to sue, and further agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless, RCC and its officers, directors, employees, contractors, and volunteers (collectively, the “Waived Parties”), from any and all liability, claim(s), demand(s), cause(s) of action, damage(s), loss or expense, including court costs and reasonable attorney’s fees of any kind or nature whatsoever (together and separately, “Liability”) which may arise out of, result from, or relate to my participation. I further agree that if, despite this Agreement, I, or anyone on my behalf, make a claim for Liability against any of the Waived Parties, I will indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Waived Parties from any such Liability which may be incurred as a result of such a claim that I might have against the Waived Parties or anyone associated with the virtual support groups.I agree that I will not share the meeting login information or link with anyone, that I will not allow anyone to share my meeting connection without their individual registration per this page, and will be solely responsible for any breach of these covenants.I acknowledge and agree that support groups are confidential and may not be recorded, photographed, or shared in any form. Sharing or disclosing any personal information or identifying details discussed within the group is strictly prohibited to protect the privacy and confidentiality of all participants.
