  • Interested in kayaking? Interested in political art? Interested in meeting and organizing with other really rad people?

    The Fleet is hosting a three-day Action Camp based in North Portland for Queer and Trans Black and Brown folks! During this camp, we'll learn kayaking, art, and organizing skills and grow a QTBIPOC community centered around water justice and collective liberation.

    Save the date for Friday, July 17th to Sunday, July 19th, and be on the lookout for a follow-up email regarding your registration status and any additional info to prepare for the program.

    Space is limited so we might not be able to accomodate all registrants, but there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved throughout the summer!

    About Mosquito Fleet: We are a queer, femme, and BIPOC-led kayaking and water justice collective primarily based in Portland, OR. Mosquito Fleet organizes for collective liberation by hosting kayak trainings, political education, and skill shares centering water and social justice.

  • FAQs

    1. Do I need to be based in Portland, OR to register?
      • No, however, this program will be based in North Portland and will center local waterways. Additionally, we will not be able to provide lodging this year. 
    2. Will I need to bring my own food?
      • Snacks and meals will be provided! Dietary accommodations can be requested in the registration form.
    3.  When will I hear back about my registration status?
      • We will send out confirmation emails by the week of June 1. Note: priority will be given to registrants who can attend all days.
    4.  Will this be a masked event?
      • The camp will mostly take place outside and we’ll have masks available for participants who wish to use one. However, masks will be required and provided in indoor spaces (like our gear trailer).

  • Track Description: 
    The Fleet is offering three different tracks for this year’s camp. The tracks include:

    (1) Beginner kayaking, (2) Intermediate kayaking, (3) Art.

    Both beginner and intermediate kayaking tracks will explore safety on the water, kayak techniques, and on-water activism, with the intermediate track allowing opportunities for additional skill development such as self and assisted rescues.

    The art track is for folks interested in learning how to create and construct political art to be used on and off the water. If you’re interested in building kayak banners and flags, learning techniques such as screen and block printing, and learning leadership skills to host art builds, this is the track for you!
