National Association of Women Highway Safety Leaders, Inc.

This fund is dedicated to the memory of Agnes Beaton, a pioneer of community-based traffic safety programs and the founder of the National Association of Women Highway Safety Leaders, Inc. Agnes was adept at reaching out to diverse groups and individuals and uniting them in the mission of saving lives and preventing injuries on America's roadways.

As a tribute to her legacy, this funding will be available for programs that are provided at the local level; will promote involvement of volunteers in the provision of services; and develop knowledgeable advocates of traffic safety. Grants are available to NAWHSL membership.

Programs selected will be those that can be easily replicated in other communities. Services must be provided at the local level in one community or multiple communities. This fund is administered by the National Association of Women Highway Safety Leaders, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization under IRS guidelines. Grants may not be used for lobbying purposes.

Upon approval, grants may be used for up to two years, giving adequate time for implementation, impact and evaluation.

Grantees will be expected to compile data allowing for evaluation of the grant and must include areas served, organizations involved and the number of people reached by the project. Photos and copies of newspaper articles, as well as other pertinent documentation, should be included with the reports.

Semi-annual written reports will be required. Grantees will also be expected to report at the Annual Conference of the National Association of Women Highway Safety Leaders, Inc. Final reports will be due within sixty (60) days of project completion.

All proposals must be typed in 11-point font or larger and must be double spaced. The program narrative on Sections III and IV must not exceed six (6) pages. Proposals should be concise.

It is anticipated that funding from the Memorial Fund will be used for program expenses. In the total budget, include other funding and in-kind donations.

Describe the need for the project and population to be served. Identify goals, objectives and activities. Include time-line. Indicate an approximate number of individuals who will receive services from this project. Describe how volunteers will help deliver services and how they will learn to be traffic safety advocates. Indicate if there are plans to continue this project beyond the grant

Describe how the project will be evaluated.

Appendices may be included when they help explain the project, up to six (6) pages.

Each proposal received by the due date will be reviewed and evaluated according to the following criteria:

• Need: Does project address a significant need?
• Impact: Does project impact the desired population?
• Goals and objectives: Are they attainable within constraints of funding?
• Implementation: Is there a step-by-step plan?
• Continuation: Is there potential for continuing project beyond the funded period?
• Budget: Are costs reasonable and well-defined?
• Evaluation: Is evaluation stated in measurable terms?
