  • Documenting the Ongoing Nakba in the Diaspora

  • This documentation project collects testimonies and personal narratives from Palestinians in the diaspora and from solidarity allies around the world. Its purpose is to build a living human archive that tells the Palestinian story through the voices of those who live it or are moved by it. This project is part of the People's Center for Palestine.

    To Palestinian participants: This project seeks to document the life stories of the rising Palestinian generation in the diaspora, particularly in North America, through a series of open-ended questions. Participants are invited to reflect on their experiences as Palestinians living in exile, intergenerational connection to their homeland, and the Nakba Palestinian across their family history. Participants may skip any question they do not wish to answer.

    To non-Palestinian participants: This initiative also invites supporters of Palestinian liberation and solidarity allies to reflect on how they first encountered the Nakba and how that encounter shaped their understanding of justice, history, and personal responsibility. These reflections help document the global human relationships and solidarities that continue to emerge around the Palestinian experience. Participants may skip any question they do not wish to answer.

     

    توثيق النكبة المستمرة في الشتات

    يجمع هذا المشروع التوثيقي شهادات وسرديات شخصية من الفلسطينيين في الشتات ومن الداعمين والمتضامنين حول العالم. ويهدف إلى بناء أرشيف إنساني حي يروي القصة الفلسطينية من خلال أصوات من يعيشونها أو يتأثرون بها. هذا المشروع جزء من مركز الشعب لفلسطين.

    إلى المشاركين الفلسطينيين: يسعى هذا المشروع إلى توثيق قصص حياة الجيل الفلسطيني الصاعد في الشتات، وخاصة في أميركا الشمالية، من خلال سلسلة من الأسئلة المفتوحة. يُدعى المشاركون إلى التأمل في تجاربهم كفلسطينيين يعيشون في المنفى، وفي الروابط العابرة للأجيال مع الوطن، وفي النكبة الفلسطينية كما تظهر في تاريخ عائلاتهم. يمكن للمشاركين تخطي أي سؤال لا يرغبون في الإجابة عليه.

    إلى المشاركين غير الفلسطينيين: تدعو هذه المبادرة أيضًا الداعمين لتحرر فلسطين والمتضامنين معها إلى التأمل في كيفية تعرّفهم الأول على النكبة، وكيف شكّل هذا اللقاء فهمهم للعدالة والتاريخ والمسؤولية الشخصية. تسهم هذه التأملات في توثيق العلاقات الإنسانية والروابط التضامنية العالمية التي تستمر في التشكّل حول التجربة الفلسطينية. يمكن للمشاركين تخطي أي سؤال لا يرغبون في الإجابة عليه.

  • For Palestinian participants:

    There are three sets of questions. Questions 1–3 focus on national identity: how Palestinians in the diaspora define themselves, as well as how they understand their place amid the broader transformations shaping the world today. Question 4 engages the historical narrative of the Nakba as it is carried through the family, tracing how this narrative has been transmitted across three generations. The third set of questions (5–8) explores the spatial and temporal dimensions that shape the lived experience of Palestinians in exile. هناك ثلاث مجموعات من الأسئلة. تركز الأسئلة 1–3 على الهوية الوطنية: كيف يعرّف الفلسطينيون في الشتات أنفسهم، وكيف يفهمون موقعهم في ظل التحولات الأوسع التي يشهدها العالم اليوم. يتناول السؤال الرابع السردية التاريخية للنكبة كما تُنقل داخل العائلة، متتبعًا كيفية انتقال هذه السردية عبر ثلاثة أجيال. أما المجموعة الثالثة من الأسئلة (5–8) فتستكشف الأبعاد المكانية والزمانية التي تشكّل التجربة المعيشة للفلسطينيين في المنفى.

    This documentation project collects testimonies and personal narratives from Palestinians in the diaspora and their solidarity allies around the world. The aim of this initiative is to build a living human archive that tells the Palestinian story through the voices of those who live it or are moved by it. While Palestinian participants reflect on identity, family memory, and intergenerational connection to their homeland, non-Palestinian participants are invited to examine how they first encountered the Nakba and how that encounter reshaped their understanding of justice, history, and personal responsibility. الى المشاركين الغير فلسطينية هذا المشروع توثيقي يجمع شهادات وسير ذاتية من فلسطينيي الشتات ومن المتضامنين معهم حول العالم، بهدف بناء أرشيف إنساني حي يروي القضية الفلسطينية من منظور الذين يعيشونها أو يتأثرون بها. للمشاركين الفلسطينيين، تتمحور الأسئلة حول الهوية والذاكرة العائلية والارتباط بالوطن عبر الأجيال. أما المشاركون من غير الفلسطينيين، فيُدعون إلى التأمل في كيفية تعرّفهم على النكبة وما أحدثته في نظرتهم إلى العدالة والتاريخ والمسؤولية الشخصية، انطلاقا من قناعة بأن رواية فلسطين ليست شأناً فلسطينياً خاصاً، بل قضية إنسانية تمس كل من يؤمن بالعدالة في هذا العالم.
