  • AERIAL LIFT DAILY INSPECTION

  • Complete this inspection daily on any type of aerial lifts (scissor lifts, boom lifts, etc.) before use.

  • INSPECTION ITEMS:

  • 1. The operator is trained in aerial lift operation and has training documentation on-site.*
  • 2. The operator is utilizing proper fall protection (harness, lanyard, anchor point) while in the lift, is trained in fall protection, and has training documentation on-site.*
  • VISUAL INSPECTION:

  • 3. The operator read the manufacturer's manual, and the manual is present and legible in storage container.*
  • 4. Safety decals are legible and present.*
  • 5. Fluid levels are checked, and equipment inspected for fluid leaks (hydraulic oil, battery fluid, engine oil, coolant, etc).*
  • 6. Battery charge level (if electric) is checked.*
  • 7. Structural components inspected for defects (cracks, welds, dents, rust, corrosion, missing nuts/bolts, etc).*
  • 8. Tires & wheels are in good condition, with adequate air pressure.*
  • 9. All guard rails are properly installed and in place, including basket chains/gates.*
  • 10. Control panel is clean & all buttons/switches are clearly visible (no paint overspray, etc).*
  • 11. Fire extinguisher present and up-to-date.*
  • FUNCTION TESTING:

  • 12. Emergency stop and function enable switches at ground level controls are functioning properly and over-rides platform level controls.*
  • 13. Emergency stop button at platform level is functioning properly and shuts off power to the lift.*
  • 14. Tilt sensor is functioning properly and sounds alarm when pushed over.*
  • 15. Braking devices are operating properly.*
  • 16. Drive, motion, and extension controls on both levels function properly & are accurately labeled (up, down, right, left, forward, back, etc).*
  • 17. Motion alarms and horns are functional and audible.*
  • 18. All switch & mechanical guards are in good condition and properly installed.*
  • 19. All safety indicator lights are working properly.*
  • 20. Work platform extension slides are clean, dry, and clear of debris. Extension slides function properly.*
  • 21. Pothole protectors function properly (deploy and return to/from stowed position).*
  • WORK AREA INSPECTION:

  • 22. Work area is clear of drop-offs, bumps, debris, slopes, overhead obstructions, and slippery surfaces.*
  • 23. Weight of lift, workers, and other equipment is within floor capacity of work area.*
  • 24. Weather and wind in work area have been evaluated and determined acceptable for lift use.*
  • 25. Work area is barricaded off or a spotter is present to keep unauthorized workers out of lift zone.*
