  • CREATE Council on the Arts Off The Page Kinderhook Knitting Mill 2026

  • Off The Page invites CREATE members working in literary media to share their work through live readings and spoken performance, expanding the exhibition beyond the gallery walls.

    Participating artists are encouraged to reflect on the exhibition theme as a starting point for poetry, prose, spoken word, and other short literary presentations shared with a live audience.

    Submit a proposal below describing your practice and the work you’d like to present.

    Up to four participants will be selected & each individual will be given 7 minutes to share their work.

  • PROGRAMS & PARTICIPATION

  • CREATE will host a series of public programs throughout the run of the show, designed to expand engagement, foster community, and highlight artistic practices. Participating artists are invited (but not required) to take part in any of the following events in either a presenting or attending capacity. Please indicate your interest below, where applicable:

  • OPENING RECEPTION
    Saturday, June 6, 3-5PM

    We invite members, their family and friends, and the community at large to join in an evening with light refreshments to thank our hosts and participating artists. 

  • CO-WORKING WITH GARDEN CLUB HUDSON VALLEY
    Thursday, June 11, 9am–12pm

    Bring your laptop, sketchbook or paperwork and co-work with us! If you tend to work will be space to chat and also a quiet room. Coffee will be provided. In partnership with Garden Club Hudson Valley.

    Off the Page is an event that offers an opportunity for members working in literary media to perform and share their work, expanding the exhibition through the inclusion of live readings and spoken performance. Participating artists are encouraged to reflect on the exhibition theme and use it as a starting point for expression through poetry, prose, spoken word, and other short literary performances in front of a live audience.

  • DEMO DAY
    Saturday, June 27, 12–3pm (During Upstate Art Weekend!)

    Demo Day invites a handful of artists to present live demonstrations of their process and technique to attendees. With multiple rotating stations, visitors can move between tables, observe different approaches, and gain insight into the creative process.
