    Facing the Future:

    South Florida vs. Climate Change

South Florida sits on the front lines of sea-level rise, flooding, and climate change — and this special community event will explore both the challenges we face and the innovative solutions being developed across our region.

Residents for Resilience (R4R), in partnership with WLRN and the Florida APA Chapter, Broward Section, invites you to a complimentary private screening of WLRN’s original documentary Facing the Future: South Florida vs. Climate Change. Filmed throughout the 2024 hurricane season, the documentary highlights local flooding impacts, resilience efforts, environmental restoration projects, infrastructure improvements, and grassroots initiatives taking place throughout South Florida.

Following the screening, attendees will hear from an expert panel featuring leaders in climate resilience, flood mitigation, stormwater management, and community planning. Panelists will discuss current countywide and local resiliency initiatives, practical strategies homeowners and neighborhoods can implement to help reduce flooding risks, the importance of the Community Rating System (CRS), and innovative approaches being explored to help communities adapt to a changing climate.

This solution-focused evening will bring together residents, business leaders, environmental advocates, educators, engineers, planners, and community stakeholders for an engaging conversation about resilience, preparedness, and the future of South Florida.
