Fill out the Islamic Marriage (Nikah) booking form.
Valid current Passport (including Visa for Non-British Passport holders) of the Husband and Wife.
Proof of residential address, whether UK or abroad (otherwise the address given on the booking form will be registered on the certificates).
Conversion Certificate if applicable to either Groom or Bride.
Presence of two Muslim Male witnesses with their ID's.
Presence of the Wali (the bride's father), or otherwise the Registrar must be made aware of the reason in advance if the bride has decided to choose an alternate responsible male kin).
Written declaration of the agreed Dowry [Mahr] (signed by both couple).
If the bride has previously been married, then an Islamic divorce certificate/ Decree Absolute is required.
Signed Statutory Declaration only applicable to non-Muslim Brides.
Please Note:
The Groom, Bride, her Wali & the two Muslim Male Witnesses should attend the ceremony in person, otherwise the Imam / Registrar must be informed of any issues while submitting the application.
We recommend couples conduct a civil marriage ceremony separately at their local council register office.
The Brighton Mosque and Muslim Community Centre will ONLY issue one original certificates by the end of the Nikah ceremony, which should be kept in a safe place for any future reference. Please note that the Centre will not issue any more original copies, but instead will provide certified copies at a charge.
For non-UK Residents, Muslim brides and/ or bridegrooms who have dual nationality are advised to consult their respective embassies or the FCO office to comply with any regulations and/or requirements of their home country, whilst entering into a marriage contract in the UK.
