Location: South Salt Lake Community Center Co-Op | 2530 S 500 E SSL, UT 84115 (Interior Mural)
South Salt Lake Arts is seeking a local artist to transform a dedicated childcare room within The Co-Op. As a space designed for our youngest community learners, the goal is to create a mural that is both inspiring and calming, fostering an environment of creativity and peace.
The selected artist will collaborate closely with South Salt Lake Arts and Promise South Salt Lake to refine a final design that aligns with the needs of the children and the mission of the facility.
Project Goals
- Atmosphere: Balance vibrant inspiration with soothing aesthetics to suit a childcare setting.
- Collaboration: Work alongside city partners to ensure the vision meets the community's standards.
- Local Focus: This opportunity is exclusively open to Utah-based artists.
Proposed Project Timeline:
- Call for Artists: May 21 - June 3
- (3) artists will be selected by June 18
- (3) artists to create proposals by July 3
- Final artist awarded: July 15
- Artist to paint: August 17 - August 28
Painting hours (Co-Op): Mon-Thu: 8:30 am - 8:00 pm and Fri: 8:30 am - 6:00 pm
Compensation:
Three (3) artists will be selected to create proposals and will each be compensated $200 each for their designs.
The selected finalist will be compensated $4,000 for the completed mural. Materials (Paint, brushes and rollers) will be reimbursed by SSLA.

Other:
By submitting a proposal the Artist represents and warrants that all samples of work are the Artist's original creations. Artist guarantees that none of the work or its exploitation will infringe, misappropriate, or violate any intellectual property, privacy, or proprietary rights of any third party.
SSLA reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to accept or reject any or all proposals, to modify or cancel this Call for Artists - RFQ in whole or in part, or to waive any informalities or technical defects in proposals received, without incurring any liability or penalty.
The issuance of this Call for Artists - RFQ does not constitute an agreement, obligation, or commitment by SSLA to enter into a contract with any proposer. SSLA makes no representation that any contract will be awarded to any respondent to this solicitation. SSLA is not responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by your company in the preparation or submission of artists’ responses.
Selected Artists will be required to enter into an agreement establishing the terms and conditions of the parties related to the South Salt Lake City Co Op Mural.
