Appointment Requirements & Information
General Appointment Requirements
- All services require a scheduled appointment.
- Auscultation appointments will be scheduled between echocardiogram appointments.
- Echocardiograms already include auscultation — please do not schedule both services for the same dog.
-Eye exams require pre-treatment with eye drops. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time.
- For all OFA radiograph services, please bring your dog’s AKC registration information for official OFA paperwork.
Service Descriptions
Basic Cardiac (OFA Cardiac Clearance)
Cardiac auscultation performed by a veterinarian for OFA cardiac certification. If an echocardiogram is recommended or required based on breed standards, this will be discussed during the exam. OFA submission fees are not included. Owners are responsible for submitting paperwork directly to OFA
Echocardiogram
Comprehensive cardiac ultrasound evaluation performed by a veterinary cardiologist. This service includes auscultation. Owners are responsible for completing and submitting any required OFA paperwork unless otherwise specified.
Eye Examination (CAER/OFA Eye Certification)
Ophthalmic examination performed by a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist. Sign up for the digital portal to avoid the paperwork!
Dogs must receive dilating eye drops prior to the exam
Please arrive 20 minutes early for pre-treatment
Owners are responsible for completing and submitting any required OFA paperwork unless otherwise specified
OFA Hip, Elbow & Spine X-Rays
Radiographs performed for official OFA evaluation of hips, elbows, and/or spine.
- Dogs must be at least 24 months old for final OFA certification
- Preliminary evaluations are accepted beginning at 12 months of age
- Dogs should be fasted prior to the appointment in case sedation is required
- Sedation is not included in the listed pricing and is based on your dog’s weight
- Estimates for sedation can be provided prior to your visit
- Digital radiograph copies will be emailed the day of the clinic
- OFA submission fees are not included
- We will submit your OFA paperwork and radiographs on your behalf
- Results are typically available within 2–4 weeks after submission
Patellar Luxation (OFA Patella Certification)
Orthopedic examination performed by a veterinarian to evaluate kneecap stability (patellar luxation). This is a hands-on exam and typically does not require sedation
OFA submission fees are not included
Owners are responsible for submitting paperwork directly to OFA
OFA Thyroid Certification
Blood sample collection submitted to an approved laboratory (Michigan State University) for OFA thyroid evaluation.
OFA submission fees are not included
We will submit your OFA paperwork on your behalf
Brucellosis Testing - Not an OFA Test
Blood test used to screen for Brucella canis, a contagious bacterial infection that can affect fertility and breeding programs.
Strongly recommended prior to breeding
Results are generally available within a few days, depending on laboratory processing times.
SpermVision® CASA Semen Analysis - Not an OFA Test
Advanced computerized semen evaluation using SpermVision® CASA (Computer Assisted Semen Analysis) technology.
This analysis evaluates:
Sperm concentration
Total sperm count
Motility
Morphology
Progressive movement
A complete report will be provided once the assessment is completed.
Additional information:
If your dog has not been collected previously, we recommend bringing a female in heat as a teaser
We do not provide teaser females
Fees apply regardless of whether a semen sample is successfully obtained
Forms & Registration
You will be required to complete the examining veterinarians’ forms for cardiac and eye examinations.

Allow time before your appointment to complete paperwork
Print and fully complete all required forms prior to arrival, including payment information at the bottom of each form
