These forms are required for your child to attend NREC's Middle School Rock Camp.
It is our mission at NREC (Natural Resource Education Center) to increase awareness, appreciation of the natural resources around us, and to understand the stewardship necessary to sustain them. These goals are met through in-depth, science based, experiential education, and outdoor recreation. NREC began the Maine Woods Explorers program in 2005 providing quality hands-on, nature-based activities that are challenging and fun to youth both local and beyond since then. One program that has evolved from the success of MWE is Rock Camp for Middle School students.

Middle School Week, August 17-20: Like to climb things? Then this is a chance to challenge yourself and practice teambuilding skills during rock climbing week. You will learn map & compass, basic rope skills, and how to tie knots before heading to Mt. Kineo and Little Yosemite or “Eagle Rock” to rock climb with Acadia Mountain Guides. This special camp is open to middle school students from Tri-County Technical Center and its sending towns.

Consent is hereby given for my child to participate in NREC/Middle School Rock Climbing program. I understand that the program includes traveling in a 15 passenger van driven by the Educational Leader to activities in outdoor environments, in all types of weather, and involve travel to remote wilderness locations that are often a long way away from immediate medical attention in case of emergency. I also agree that the NREC/Rock Climbing program, its agents, volunteers, and employees, shall not be liable for any injury to the above-named participant during the programs unless caused by gross negligence or willful misconduct. In the event I cannot be reached, I give permission for administration of emergency medical and/or surgical treatment deemed necessary by a local physician.
