  • Counselors in training, please fill out CIT application.

    Prior to completing this staff registration form, you will need the following:

    1. Permission from the director(s) to serve on staff for the camp session(s) you have chosen (Check the camp websites for director name and email address)

    2. Health insurance card to upload (front and back – a picture is fine)

    3. Driver’s license to upload – or other form of identification (a picture is fine)

    4. Completed health form to upload (or you may send by mail to the director if you prefer no later than 2 weeks prior to start of camp). As you are under the age of 18, you should submit the CAMPER HEALTH FORM.

    5. Confirm with the district office that you have 3 current reference forms on file (620-241-4240; office@wpcob.org). Reference forms are good for 10 years and cannot be from members of your family. If you do not have current forms on file, you may give this link to your references, which, when completed, will be automatically submitted to the district office.

    6. Confirm with the district office (620-241-4240; office@wpcob.org) that you have a current district background check on file. Background Check Release Form found here. For the current camping season, only those background checks done after July 1 five years previous are considered current (ex: for 2023 camping season, checks done after July 1, 2018 are current). Background check release forms can be found on the camps’ websites: www.campcolorado.org and www.campmounthermon.org. The form must be mailed to the district office: Western Plains District, PO Box 394, McPherson, KS 67460.

    7. CPR/First Aid training is preferred, but not required. If you do have this training, please have your current certificate available to upload with your application. Persons who are serving on staff at Camp Colorado will need additional background checks and fingerprinting performed per Colorado state childcare regulations. Those staff will be contacted by Camp Colorado personnel with further instructions.

    Camp Colorado Staff will need to complete the Standard Precautions Training (more info available here) and have your completion certificate available to upload. This training is required each year.

  • Reference Forms

  • Camps are required to keep reference forms from three (3) references on file for you. Reference forms are good for 10 years. Forms should come from persons who know you well and are not members of your family. Your application will not be complete until these forms have been received. The online reference form can be found HERE and shared with your references for completion.

  • Background Check

  • All staff are required to have a current background check on file with the district. For the current camping season, only those background checks done after July 1 five years previous are considered current (ex: for 2026 camping season, checks done after July 1, 2021 are current).   • Preventing and Responding to Child Abuse and Neglect

  • Per Colorado Child Care law, all staff are required to complete Preventing and Responding to Child Abuse and Neglect training as part of the application and pre-camp process.

    This mandatory training equips staff with the knowledge and responsibility to recognize signs of abuse or neglect, maintain safe boundaries, respond appropriately to concerns, and fulfill mandatory reporting obligations.

  • Standard Precautions Training

  • Per Colorado Child Care law, all staff are required to complete a state approved Standard Precautions training as part of the application and pre-camp process. This training helps ensure the health and safety of all campers and staff by providing guidance on hygiene practices, illness prevention, exposure response, and maintaining a safe camp environment.

    Completion of this requirement is mandatory prior to participation in camp programming and done annually.

  • All staff are required to have a completed health form on file. As you are under the age of 18, you should submit the camper health form.

    Health forms are good for 1 year and can be found HERE 

    or on the camps’ websites: www.campcolorado.org and www.campmounthermon.org. You can upload the Health Form below or mail it to your director.

    Please also upload a copy of your health insurance card (unless you do not have health insurance) and immunization record below.

    All staff are also required to have some form of identifcation on file. There is a space for you to upload either a driver’s license or other form of ID below.

  • Statement of Understanding Regarding Camper Transportation

    Western Plains District camps often rely on staff to transport campers in their personal vehicles to offsite activities or to evacuate in case of fire or other emergencies. By typing your initials below, you acknowledge the following:

    It is my responsibility to contact my auto insurance company to see whether my auto insurance will cover any incident that might occur while transporting campers during camps. I also acknowledge that the camp does not provide any auto insurance coverage and I affirm that my vehicle is in good working order and is in appropriate condition to safely transport campers and/or staff.
