Conducted under the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM) by IITs and C-DAC
Do you have a CFD application or scientific code that can benefit from high-performance computing?
Are you looking to scale your code and optimize its performance?
Join us for the National Supercomputing Mission Month-Long Hackathon in CFD (NSM MLH - CFD) - an intensive, mentor-driven HPC engagement program intended to transform your research applications into high-performing codes running on India’s leading supercomputers
🚀 What’s on Offer?
- Access to NSM supercomputing infrastructure (PARAM clusters with GPU/CPU nodes)
- Mentorship from HPC experts (IITs, C-DAC)
- In-depth hands-on support in:
- Code profiling & bottleneck analysis
- Parallelization using MPI/OpenMP/CUDA, etc.
- Vectorization, memory & algorithmic optimization
- GPU acceleration, containerization
- Certificates & potential for research publications
- Post-hackathon mentoring for project continuation or grant proposal preparation for selected applications
👥 Who Can Apply?
- Faculty/ Scientist as team leader with a team of 2-5 members
- Must have an indigenous application or research code in the CFD domain
- Preferably a NSM user
- Team commitment
- Team members must commit to one full month (30-35 hours/week) of working towards the said goals under the consultation of the mentor and team leader
- Team leader should closely monitor the progress of the team and should be available for weekly SCRUM meetings
- Offline interaction with mentors and participating teams at the beginning of the hackathon is essential for fostering productive discussions and enabling more effective communication between teams and their mentors
📌 Timeline
- Application Deadline: 3rd June, 2026
- Selected Teams Announcement: 4th June, 2026
- Pre-Hackathon Interaction: 8th June - 19th June, 2026
- Hackathon Duration: 22nd June - 17th July, 2026
- Venue: Offline: 22nd June - 26th June 2026 at Goa and,
Online: 27th June - 17th July 2026
✅ Selection Criteria
Submitted proposals will be evaluated based on:
- Scientific Merit: Model complexity, relevance to problems of national interest, and scientific significance.
- Computational Readiness: Programming models used and existing parallelism. Computational performance results, including scalability and hardware utilization.
- Need for a Long-Term Intervention: Justification for requiring a month-long engagement beyond short-term optimization.
- Goals Set by Team Leader: Clarity of technical and research goals, and plan to utilize the hackathon resources effectively.
- Expected Outcomes: Potential for tangible outcomes like a research publication, whitepaper, or grant proposal
- Scalability and Optimization Scope: Feasibility of scaling the code, problem size/resolution
🏨 Logistics
- Offline Hackathon Dates: 22nd June - 26th June, 2026
- Venue: Goa (hotel/guest-house details will be shared later)
- Travel: Participants are requested to arrange and cover the cost of their own travel.
- Accommodation: Only 2 members from each team are expected to attend the offline interaction. Accommodation and food for the participants will be fully covered by the organizers. Additional participants may also be accommodated on paid basis
This is your chance to take your code to the next level and become part of a growing community of indigenous HPC application developers.
