Education Volunteers at THCM assist our Education Programming Team in helping create a GREAT camp experience for children! Our campers are at the museum all day doing experiments, playing, and exploring the museum and you get to do those things while helping the campers grow their abilities. Choose from three different age groups: 4-6 years, 7-9, or 10-13.

Volunteer Program Policies
Volunteering is done in four-hour shifts. Availability is first-come, first-served. Open shifts are shown on a scheduling site called When To Help and it is the your responsibility to find an open shift and fill it. It is also your responsibility to fulfill your shifts or notify the Museum if a conflict arises. Two "no-show" missed shifts will result in removal from the program
If you're volunteering to meet a requirement from school, government or another type of organization, the Museum will sign off on forms. It is your responsibility to furnish and present them to the Museum staff.
The Museum is a fast-paced place. We want you to be comfortable and ask that you wear jeans/shorts and t-shirt/sweatshirt that is appropriate in front of young children plus comfortable walking shoes. We also ask that you arrive a few minutes early, so that you're ready-to-go at your start time.
Creating a GREAT camp experience for our children has many different facets. In your role as a volunteer assisting our Team, you might help assist children with experiments (but not do it for them), play with them to extend their play into learning, help distribute snacks, help clean up the rooms as activities transition, read to an individual child and more!
