• FORKLIFT/GRADALL DAILY INSPECTION

  • INSPECTION ITEMS:

  • 1. The operator is trained in equipment operation and has training documentation available.*
  • 2. The operator will utilize seatbelt while operating excavator and will obey speed limits and applicable traffic laws on-site.*

  • VISUAL INSPECTION:

  • 3. The operator read the manufacturer’s operation manual, the manual is present and legible in cab.*
  • 4. Safety decals and load charts are legible and present.*
  • 5. Fluid levels are checked, and excavator inspected for fluid leaks (hydraulic oil hoses/cylinders, transmission fluid, motor oil, coolant, DEF, fuel, break fluid, grease/lube, etc). USE CAUTION! Do not open anything hot.*
  • 6. All machine components inspected for defects (worn, cracked welds, kinks, dents, rust, corrosion, missing nuts/bolts/stops, etc).*
  • 7. Tires/wheels or tracks are in good condition, with adequate air pressure. No cuts, missing chunks/lugs, rim separation.*
  • 8. Control panel and levers are clean, labels clearly visible (no paint over spray, etc).*
  • 9. Fire extinguisher present, inspected up-to-date, and secured in cab.*

  • FUNCTION TESTING:

  • 10. Braking and steering devices, parking brakes are operating properly. No hesitation/lurching.*
  • 11. Excavator attachments are inspected and functioning properly. Check front and back attachments/buckets/rams/chisels/drill rigs, etc.*
  • 12. Engine, transmission, and hydraulic systems are functioning properly.*
  • 13. Outrigger extension/retraction functioning properly. No binding/unusual noise.*
  • 14. Motion alarms and horns are functional and audible.*
  • 15. All Safety Indicator lights are working properly. Headlights and turn signal functioning properly.*
  • 16. Seatbelt is functioning properly.*
  • 17. All control levers and gauges are in good condition and functioning properly.*

  • WORK AREA INSPECTION:

  • 18. Work area is clear of drop-offs, holes, bumps, debris, slopes, overhead obstructions, and slippery surfaces*
  • 19. Excavator swing radius barricaded off if stationary/as needed. Excavations in work area delineated for visual reminder of location.*
  • 20. Weather and wind in work area have been evaluated and determined acceptable for excavator use.*
